Yoga and Ayurveda

While I was in India, my interests included holistic modalities used throughout the Indian culture for well-being and health. Health shouldn't be looked at as separate aspects, if there is an imbalance in the system, no matter how small or large it will throw off the homeostasis of the entire body.

NAMASTE

Hands together in prayer. Being a yoga teacher for 8 years I was very familiar with the word "Namaste," but being immersed in the Indian culture made me realize it was used as a daily hello and reminder to the divinity within each one of us.

Tree pose

This might seem like a difficult position at first, but the key is to focus the eyesight on something in front of you that is not moving. There are a couple of different variations of this position. The one I am doing in the photo is with the foot on my inner thigh, which would be the second variation. The first would be the foot on the ankle, and the last would be the foot in the lotus position.

YOGA

Yoga takes into consideration all of our bodies, physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental. Holistic integration and a union created with all parts of yourself.

Warrior Two

This Asana is called warrior two because it develops stability and balance, and at the same tie builds stamina and concentration. Warrior two improves the circulation throughout the body and also energizes our limbs by supplying much-needed oxygen flow into our muscles.

MINDFULNESS THROUGH YOGA

Global-health study abroad

In order to achieve global homeostasis, ancestral healing, and karmic alignment with our purpose on the planet, we must first of all look within ourselves.  Our main goal should always be to achieve a high level of connection with our purpose, dreams, and contracts made. We have a lot of pressure on us on this planet, all of us, around the world. Society tells us to become something, to work hard and make money. Never stopping for a moment to think about what we are really here to do. The truth is simple and a mindful life lead with a lot of love, and the integration of all aspects of our self will allow us to achieve global health.  This can be attained through yoga practice, yoga is not only the practice of positions, or "Asanas," but is the union of our mind, body, and spirit through the concentration of our breath. NAMASTE.
